CLASSIFICATION OF PRINTING CARTRIDGES WASTE?
In Europe, the empty cartridges are regarded as “ordinary industrial waste”.
The Directive 2008/98 EC of the European Parliament recommends prioritization of treatment part in the following order of importance:
- Waste prevention
- Reuse
- Recycling
- Valuation
- Waste disposal
FBO is at second level to collect empty cartridges and facilitate their reuse.
Every year in Europe, over 400 million cartridges are sold but only 18% are recovered for recycling. This is a very low percentage when you consider that more than 1000 years are needed for nature to absorb the remnants of a toner cartridge.
